"Being Innovative and Creative"

TerrorDome – “Our Travels – Custom Example. Butterfly Framed Art”

TerroeDome produces beautiful wall art by taking old atlases and cutting them in to the shape of small butterflies. The butterflies have a 3-D affected that is given to them by the artist layering the map locations and sewing the layers together in the middle so that they wings seam to flutter. Although they are attached to the shadow box they are presented in. This site offers you the option of customizing your butterflies to be locations that hold a special place in the customer’s heart.

I like this product because it is something I have never seen before and also had never thought of creating, it is one of the only site I have found where I was like WOW, I wish I had thought of that.

The sites shipping prices are only listed in pounds. Also, does not say if she ships internationally. It also only presents its finished art in shadow boxes, which is very beautiful but also very breakable.

Lilyja – Once in a lifetime crochet pearl ring – 14k gold filled

This is possibly one of the most beautiful pieces of jewelry I have seen on Etsy.

A 14k filled wire is crocheted around this beautiful fresh water white pearl, almost like a small egg in a small birds nest.

I like this product because it is elegant and timeless, but also very quirky at the same time. It is made when ordered and can be customized to anyone’s ring size.

The only thing is I wonder about the durability and if the ring would bend easy. She does not seam to address any of this in her profile. Also I would like to see a picture with the ring on a persons hand to see its proportions and actual size. She also doesn’t state what size pearl one would receive.

houseofistria – the Secret Garden – whimsical vintage flower hair comb

This piece is a beautiful hair comb with flowers attached to it. It would be beautiful for flower girls or even a bride to have placed in her hair. The reason I like this items is because one can see there is a lot of care put into its construction.

However, there should be a photo showing it in someone’s hair so the buyer can see the exact size and proportion. Also the hair comb is only offered in blush pink and light purple colors. These are not ideal for some wedding themes. Also the price seams a bit much, especially when compared to some of the other hair combs on the site.

lindesigns – Hair Pins – Vintage Flowers, Jewel Tone Brass Gold Set of 3 Accessories for Girl

I think this product is unique in that she took found objects and turned them into a totally new product. They are hair pins that could be used for a special event or everyday use.

The only problems I found was that there where no photos showing the hair pins in a women’s hair. Therefore you could not really get the sizing and proportions. Out of all the products offered most were hair pins. I found that quite odd since she listed many other things in her shop profile.

TheBlackSwanTheory – The Nile Song Upcycled Vintage Turquoise and Silver Ring with Pearl Accents

This a beautiful ring with I am actually thinking about ordering for my self! I love that it used to be an old vintage pendent but the chain broke so they converted it into a ring. This is exactly the thing that I like to do with jewelry.

I like this product because I feel it is a beautiful piece that could be warn with anything, any day. It is a one of a kind item.

The things wrong with this site is that they do not have many pictures of any of the products. They have a fix it policy that states that if a product breaks the store will fix it, I think that is way more work than any one human could handle.

"Design Thinking"

I feel that design thinking could be useful in everyday life. Everyone has problems and it is only human nature to want to figure out the absolute best solution to ones problems. Using the design thinking could be a way to approach many things in life from now on. In the article "Intro to Design Thinking" it states clearly that, "design as an innovative problem-solving methodology is fast becoming an imperative business strategy". Not only to be used in a business stand point, but also everyday life. However, may favorite way that design thinking was defined was in What is Design Thinking?” . It says that design thinking is collaborative, abductive, experimental, personal, integrative, and interpretive. I from now on will make an effort to approach all problems and questions with design thinking strategy in mind.
